What's the difference between a plaster ceiling and a gypsum board ceiling?

They are the same thing — 'plaster ceiling' is the common Malaysian term for a ceiling built from gypsum plasterboard screwed to a metal frame and finished with skim coat plaster. The frame can be wood (cheaper but prone to warping) or galvanized iron (premium, rust-proof, and sag-resistant). We always use GI frames.
Can you build a curved or round plaster ceiling?

Yes. Curved and barrel ceilings are built using flexible GI profiles that are pre-bent to your radius. The boards are misted with water and gradually curved onto the frame. We can build any radius down to about 1m. The cove lighting trough is integrated into the curve for ambient effect.
How do you prevent the ceiling from cracking at the joints?

Three rules: (1) Use only GI frames — never timber, which expands and contracts. (2) Always use fiberglass mesh tape on every joint, not just paper tape. (3) Apply two full coats of joint compound, not just one. This is the same system used on premium commercial fit-outs in KLCC and Pavilion-grade retail.
Can you install a fan hook later if I didn't plan for one?

Yes, but it requires opening a small section of the ceiling to fix a reinforced timber block or metal fan-bracket between joists. It's much cheaper to pre-install fan hooks during the original ceiling build. We always recommend this for any room that might ever have a ceiling fan.
