Substrate Assessment
We inspect the existing concrete for moisture, oil contamination, cracks, and surface profile. We perform a calcium chloride moisture test if needed, and recommend a moisture-mitigating primer if required.

Diamond Grinding
Industrial walk-behind diamond grinders with vacuum extraction are used to achieve a CSP 3–4 profile. Cracks are routed open and filled with epoxy mortar.
- 03
Primer Application
A penetrating epoxy primer is applied by roller to seal the concrete and create a chemical bond with the body coat. We allow 12–24 hours cure depending on ambient conditions.
- 04
Body Coat / Broadcast
Self-levelling epoxy is poured and spread with a notched trowel or spiked roller. For broadcast systems, decorative flake or quartz is hand-cast to full rejection into the wet body coat.
- 05
Topcoat & Curing
After the body coat cures, excess flake is scraped and vacuumed, and a UV-stable aliphatic polyurethane topcoat is applied in two coats for maximum scratch and chemical resistance.

How long does epoxy flooring take to install and cure?

Most residential garage or showroom projects (300–500 sq ft) take 3 to 4 days including grinding, primer, body coat, and topcoat. Light foot traffic is allowed after 24 hours, vehicle traffic after 72 hours, and full chemical resistance after 7 days. We will schedule around your access needs.
Will my epoxy floor turn yellow in the sun?

Standard aromatic epoxy does yellow with UV exposure. To prevent this, we always apply a UV-stable aliphatic polyurethane topcoat (e.g., Sika, BASF, or RPM products). This topcoat is crystal-clear and stays clear for 10+ years even in direct sun-exposed areas like car porches and outdoor walkways.
Can epoxy be applied over existing tiles?

Generally not recommended. Epoxy needs to bond directly to a sound concrete substrate. We typically remove existing tiles (we can include this in the quote) and grind the underlying concrete. In some cases, an existing epoxy floor can be recoated without removal — we assess this case by case.
Is epoxy flooring slippery when wet?

Standard self-levelling epoxy is smooth and can be slippery when wet, especially in commercial kitchens or pool decks. For these areas, we recommend a broadcast quartz or flake system with a fine-grit topcoat additive that delivers P4–P5 slip rating (AS/NZS 4586) without sacrificing cleanability.
