Frameless Shower Screen Installation in KL & Selangor

A frameless screen is a single sheet of tempered glass held by a few brackets or hinges. There is no aluminium frame collecting mould, which is exactly why people want one — and also why the details around it (floor fall, drip edge, silicone) decide whether it stays dry.

Direct answer: KL Servis Rumah installs frameless shower screens from RM 420 per panel across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, using 10mm tempered glass for fixed panels up to about 1.5m and 12mm for doors or wider panels. Seals carry a 12-month leak-free and hardware warranty.

If the glass is fine and only the silicone has failed, a re-seal is a smaller job — see glass & aluminium services. If water is coming through the floor rather than past the screen, that is bathroom and wet area waterproofing.

When a frameless screen is the right choice

  • You are retiling or renovating the bathroom and can set the floor fall correctly.
  • The existing shower curtain soaks the whole floor and you want the wet zone contained.
  • The old framed screen is mouldy at every joint and you want fewer places for mould to live.
  • You want the bathroom to look larger — frameless glass keeps the sightline open.
  • You need a fixed panel only, not a door. A single fixed screen is the cheapest and most leak-resistant option.

A frameless screen is not a fix for a bathroom that already leaks downstairs. Check bathroom leak from the upper floor first.

Frameless is about appearance and cleanability. A framed screen with proper channels actually contains water more aggressively. If your bathroom is tiny, the shower head points at the opening, or the floor falls away from the drain, we will say so before you spend on frameless.

Fixed panel, door, or door plus return?

  • Fixed panel — one sheet, no moving parts, no hinges to sag, least likely to leak. Best value.
  • Hinged door — needs 12mm glass, proper hinge selection and door swing clearance. Water tends to escape at the hinge side if the fall is wrong.
  • Door plus return panel — full enclosure feel, more silicone joints, more cost.

What the RM 420 start includes

  • Site measurement of the opening, floor fall and drain position.
  • 10mm tempered safety glass, factory cut and edge-polished, per fixed panel.
  • Brackets or channel fixing, setting blocks and structural silicone.
  • Drip-edge detail and sanitary-grade mould-resistant silicone.
  • Alignment and a water test before handover.
  • 12-month warranty on seals and hardware we supply.

12mm glass, hinged doors, hardware upgrades, notched cuts around tiles and any tile drilling into difficult substrates are itemised on the quote.

How we install it

  1. Measure the opening, and check floor slope, drain position, tile joints and the wall build-up behind the tile.
  2. Confirm the design — glass thickness, fixing type, door swing, drip-edge position — in an itemised quote.
  3. Fabricate — glass is cut, tempered and polished. Typically 5–7 working days. It cannot be trimmed after tempering.
  4. Install — mark and drill carefully to avoid hidden pipes, fit brackets, seat the glass on setting blocks, and never force a panel into an out-of-square opening.
  5. Seal and test — apply sanitary silicone, cure, then run the shower and check where water actually goes.

Cost

ItemStarting price
Frameless shower screenFrom RM 420 / panel
Wall mirror installationFrom RM 320
Glass office partitionFrom RM 220 / sq ft
Glass replacement (existing window)From RM 200

Price moves with glass thickness, panel size, hinge and bracket grade, notches and access. Condominium jobs sometimes need lift protection or management approval for material movement, which we confirm before scheduling.

Why frameless screens leak (and how we prevent it)

Most "leaking" frameless screens are not failed glass. The usual causes:

  • Floor falls the wrong way. Water runs out of the shower zone regardless of the glass. This must be fixed with tiling, not glass.
  • No drip edge. Water follows the underside of the glass and drops on the dry side.
  • Gap set too tight or too wide at the door. Both push water outwards.
  • Wrong silicone. General-purpose silicone goes black and peels in a Malaysian bathroom.
  • Shower head aimed at the opening. Simple to change, often overlooked.

We check all five during measurement, because the glass is rarely the problem.

Common mistakes

  • Buying a "standard size" screen online for a non-standard bathroom.
  • Choosing 8mm for a hinged door to save cost, then dealing with flex and hinge stress.
  • Drilling into tile without locating pipes behind it.
  • Sealing both sides of the bottom edge, trapping water inside the joint instead of letting it drain back into the shower.
  • Using the new screen as the fix for a leak that is actually coming from the floor membrane.

Frequently asked questions

10mm or 12mm — which do I need?

10mm is enough for a single fixed panel up to about 1.5m wide. Frameless doors and wider panels should be 12mm. We confirm after measurement.

Can you fit a screen on existing tiles?

Yes, if the tiles and wall behind them are sound. We check for hollow tiles, stud positions and hidden pipework before drilling. If tiles are already drummy, see loose and hollow tiles.

Will a frameless screen keep the floor completely dry?

No screen makes a bathroom splash-proof. A correct drip edge, gap and silicone control normal splashing. If the floor fall is wrong, no glass will fix it.

How long from measurement to installation?

Typically 5–7 working days for glass fabrication, then a single visit to install, subject to access and bathroom condition.

Can you replace only the glass on my old frameless screen?

Often yes, if the brackets are still sound and the sizes are standard. We measure the existing panel and bracket positions before quoting.
