Fabrication vs repair — which one do you need?
New glass and aluminium is not always the answer. A large share of enquiries we receive are repairs on existing units.

If the frame is sound, repair is usually cheaper and faster. We say so on site rather than quoting a replacement by default. General repair work sits under window repair.
Choosing glass: thickness, safety and tint
Glass selection is the single biggest driver of both safety and cost.
- Tempered (toughened) — heat-treated so it breaks into small blunt granules instead of shards. Mandatory thinking for shower screens, doors and partitions. We do not use ordinary annealed glass in wet or high-traffic areas.
- Laminated — two panes bonded with an interlayer; holds together when broken. Useful for overhead glass and areas where fall-through is a risk.
- 10mm — sufficient for a single fixed shower panel up to about 1.5m wide.
- 12mm — for frameless doors or panels wider than 1.5m, and for full-height partitions.
- 8mm — acceptable on framed or sliding shower designs.
- 5mm clear or tinted — standard for aluminium sliding window infill.
On tint: clear glass gives maximum daylight; grey, bronze or green tint reduces solar heat gain and is a common choice for west-facing elevations in Klang Valley; frosted (acid-etched or sandblasted) gives privacy while still passing light; reflective coating adds daytime one-way privacy. We can show physical samples before you commit.
Aluminium profiles
We work with profiles from Akasia, Hua Ho and YKK AP, or custom powder-coated sections where a specific colour is required. Profile choice affects sash weight, glazing bead depth, weatherstrip type and how the frame handles wind-driven rain — not just the look.
Glass we specify comes from Malaysian certified manufacturers including Malaysian Sheet Glass, TechnoGlas and Xinyi Glass.
How a glass and aluminium job runs
- Site measurement and design — we measure the opening and record the constraints that matter: floor slope, drainage position, tile joints, plumbing behind the wall, ceiling height, wall condition.
- Quotation and lead time — an itemised quote covering glass, frame, hardware and installation. Tempered glass fabrication typically takes 5–7 working days; aluminium frames 3–5 working days.
- Fabrication — glass is cut, tempered and edge-polished at the factory. Aluminium is cut, mitred and powder-coated. Tempered glass cannot be trimmed after toughening, which is why measurement discipline matters.
- On-site installation — frames anchored with appropriate fixings, glass seated on setting blocks with structural silicone, hardware fitted and adjusted.
- Sealing and water test — for shower screens we run a water test to confirm the seal performs, then align hardware and hand over.

What we check on site
- Floor slope and drain position in the bathroom — a screen fitted against the fall will always pool water.
- Whether the wall behind the tile is solid brick, block or stud, and where hidden pipes run.
- Squareness of the opening. Old terrace openings are rarely true, and a frame forced into a skewed opening will bind.

Common mistakes
- Ordering shower glass by tape measure without checking floor fall — the water runs the wrong way and the screen gets blamed.
- Choosing 8mm frameless for a wide door because it is cheaper, then living with flex and hinge stress.
- Sealing a screen with general-purpose silicone instead of sanitary-grade mould-resistant silicone.
- Fitting a new window without clearing the drainage weep holes, so rain backs up over the sill.
- Assuming a leaking window means new windows. Very often it is a perished seal or blocked weep hole.
- Skipping condominium management approval for facade-visible work, then being asked to remove it.
Frequently asked questions
Can my existing shower screen be re-sealed instead of replaced?
Often yes. If the glass and frame are sound and only the silicone has gone black, mouldy or detached, we can strip the old silicone, clean the substrate and re-apply sanitary-grade mould-resistant silicone. That is a much smaller job than a new screen.
How long does tempered glass take to arrive?
Typically 5–7 working days for fabrication, and 3–5 working days for aluminium frames. Tempering is a factory heat process — it cannot be rushed, and the glass cannot be recut afterwards.
Do you install glass I bought myself?
We can look at it, but tempered panels are made to a specific size with pre-drilled holes for specific hardware. If the cutouts do not match the hinges or the channel, the panel cannot be modified. We prefer to measure and fabricate as one scope so responsibility for fit sits in one place.
Do you handle office partitions and shop fit-outs?
Yes. Full-height 10–12mm tempered partitions with aluminium or frameless U-channel, integrated swing or sliding doors, frosted film for privacy and acoustic laminated glass for meeting rooms.
Is tinted glass worth it in Klang Valley?
For a west-facing living room or a room that overheats every afternoon, yes — tint reduces solar heat gain noticeably. For a north or south elevation, clear glass usually makes more sense so you keep the daylight.
