Lifting or curling vinyl and SPC planks are a stress problem, not a dead floor. The boards expand in heat and contract in the cool, and if the 10 mm expansion gap at the walls was never left, or has been taken up, the planks have nowhere to move — so they push against each other and pop up at the edges, usually near doors, windows, or wet areas. In Malaysian homes the two usual triggers are direct west-facing sun baking one wall of the floor and water that has seeped under a plank during monsoon. The click-lock still holds, which is why the same planks can almost always be lifted, dried, and re-clicked.
